Imagine a place that simply by being in its presence, all the worries, noise and clutter of your life and the world- disappears. The special Zen rock garden of Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto is just that place. Imagine~

Removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, when you enter the tranquil  and serene grounds of Ryoanji you can’t help but feel a sense of calm and peacefulness. Its imbedded in every stone, leaf, drop of water and it carries you to the Zen rock garden awaiting. There you step back centuries to where Kings, Queens, Shoguns and Emperors have all experienced and witnessed the garden’s magic.

The manicured garden of raked pebbles around 15 rocks has been in existence since the 1400’s and all 15 rocks can only be seen from the sky above. In Zen it is believed that by focusing on the raked circles of pebbles you will see drops in an ocean that will take your mind to a state of nothingness, thus releasing it from this earth.

A little piece of heaven on earth in Kyoto, Japan that I hope all has the opportunity to experience.
